I first met Tony in the sixth grade. We were assigned seats next to each other, and became fast friends. We always chose each other for class projects, gym partners, etc., and although we each had many friends, we always seemed to hang out together. We would talk for hours on the phone about anything and everything, until my mother would pick up the extension and make us hang up. Of course I wanted only the best for my best friend, Kathy, and so I hooked her and Tony up. Kathy and I and Tony and his best friend Ted (another good friend of mine)were the fearless foursome. We had so much fun in those carefree days, riding bikes, hanging out at the park, or just sitting on the curb in front of Ted's house talking. The following was copied from the Cape Cod News.
Anthony J. DeMarco, 52, of Brewster, formerly of Boxborough, died from complications of cancer on Thursday, March 3, 2011, at the Kaplan Hospice House in Danvers.
Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., he was the son of Claudice (Shanen) DeMarco and the late Anthony J. DeMarco. In his early years, Mr. DeMarco lived in Athens, N.Y., East Hartford and Glastonbury, Conn., and graduated from Eastern Connecticut State College with a degree in environmental science. After college he moved to Massachusetts, settling in Boxborough to raise his family.
A well-known home builder in the Acton, Boxborough and Concord area, he worked for many years in residential construction and was most recently employed by National Grid.
Mr. DeMarco lived in Florida for a time before moving to Brewster six years ago. He is remembered as a family man who loved to spend time with his children. An avid photographer, he especially enjoyed the beach.
Mr. DeMarco is predeceased by a son, Anthony DeMarco, and his father, Anthony J. DeMarco. He is survived by two children, Liana DeMarco of Malden and Thomas Anthony DeMarco of Brewster; his mother, Claudice DeMarco of Vernon, Conn.; a sister, Gina Clark of South Windsor, Conn.; his former wife, Marsha DeMarco of Exeter, N.H.; and four nieces and a nephew.
Relatives and friends are invited to visiting hours from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, March 7, at the Acton Funeral Home, 470 Massachusetts Ave. (Route 111), Acton. All are invited to the funeral Mass to be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 8, in St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church, 89 Arlington St., Acton. Burial in Orleans Cemetery will be private.
