Opal Beatrice "Big O" Drake was born November 9, 1922, in Shawnee OK to Frank and Melissa Welch. She was the mountain of strength that her family clung to. She was the calm after the storm, and a shining star to those that knew and loved her. Opal passed away on June 4, 2010.
Opal was preceded in death by her husband N.V. Drake; both parents; eight siblings; and one great-grandchild.
She is survived by her children Lucy Field, Janette Brooks, Jarvis Brown, and Huldah Sanders, all of Guthrie OK, Valarie Gibson of Oklahoma City OK, and Tim Drake of Del City OK; 17 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; and numerous family, friends, and loved ones.
Although we lost our earthly fellowship with you we are confident that Heaven has gained you. We will sorely miss our Mother, Grandmother, and friend. Until we see each other again we will cling to our blessed hope in Christ Jesus.
