Deceased Name: Newell Floyd Butterfield
Newell Floyd Butterfield , 79, passed away July 24, 1998 peacefully at home, surrounded by family and friends.
He was born March 6, 1919 in Chesterfield, Idaho, the son of Andrew Dodd and Eliza Call Butterfield . Newell married Marjorie Leone Wiseman on October 16, 1943 in Salt Lake City; their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple on October 16, 1963. Marjorie preceded Newell in death on June 18, 1981. Newell married Patricia Joan Roscoe on September 25, 1987 in Salt Lake City; their marriage was later solemnized in the West Jordan Temple on July 7, 1990. Dad gained happiness and a sense of accomplishment from the lifestyle he chose as a farmer, stock rancher and businessman. He left us a legacy of honesty and hard work. He laughed a lot and enjoyed life to the fullest. We salute you, dad, your life and your posterity. You did your best--we love you, rest well.
Newell is survived by his wife, Patricia; children, Sharron (Gordon) Jones, B. Diann (Dennis) Ott, Dennis (Debra) Butterfield , Darlene (Dale) Love; Newell was like a father to Patricia's seven children and grandchildren. Newell is also survived by 23 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and several great great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Marjorie; a daughter, Shirley Freeman; four brothers and one sister.
Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, July 29, 1998 at 11 a.m. at the Mountain Shadows 3rd Ward, 8160 S. Old Bingham Highway (3400 West), West Jordan. Friends may call Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Redwood Memorial Estates, 6500 S. Redwood Road and one hour prior to the services Wednesday at the church. Interment will be at the Taylorsville City Cemetery.
