Mr. Welk was born June 6, 1889 in Germany. He came to Kansas when he was a small child and to Altoona in 1913. He married Miss Harriet Campbell April 8, 1917 at Yates Center.
Survivors are his Wife of the home, two sisters, Mrs Elsie Carmain, of Topeka and Mrs Rosa Unruh of Ottawa.
He was pre-deceased by his parents, a daughter, Harriet Marie, who died Oct 11, 1947, one sister and several brothers.
The deceased was a member of the Altoona Methodist church, Masonic Lodge No. 118 at Altoona, The Council at Independence, Royal Arch Masons, Neodesha, The Bethany Shrine, Eastern Star No. 240 of Altoona and the Wilson-Montgomery County Holiness Association.
During their early Married years the Welk's operated a movie picture theater in Altoona. An electrician and carpenter by trade, Mr. Welk retired at the age of 65.
