NORFOLK - Mrs. Ruth Grossman Levinson, 80, died Nov. 25, 2008, in Norfolk surrounded by her loving family. A resident of Norfolk since 1949, she was born in Breslau, Germany, and was a daughter of the late Wilhelm and Charlotte Wuttke Melzer. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her first husband, Simon Grossman. Mrs. Levinson was a member of B'Nai Israel Congregation and the Brith Shalom Auxiliary.
Mrs. Levinson is survived by her husband of 31 years, Earl Levinson; two daughters, Esther Chess and husband Larry of Houston and Sharon Tunney and husband Dr. Francis Tunney of Mt. Pleasant, S.C.; two sons, Bill Grossman and wife Linda of Chesapeake and Kenneth Grossman and wife Elizabeth of Largo, Fla.; and eight grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at noon today in Forest Lawn Cemetery by Rabbi Chaim Silver. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, 2730 Ellsmere Ave., Norfolk, VA 23518. H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts, Norfolk Chapel, is in charge of arrangements.
