Mrs. Baxter passed away Saturday, August 13, 2011, at Crest Healthcare Center, Davenport.
Dorothy Marie Collins was born October 10, 1911, in Davenport to James B. and Nadine (Kibler) Collins. She was married to Lt. Col. George H. Baxter. With her husband, Dorothy traveled and resided in Japan, Germany, Washington, D.C., and New York state before returning to Rock Island Arsenal. Dorothy was active in the Rock Island Women's Club and Kings Daughters.
Memorials may be made to Assumption High School.
Survivors include her daughter Phyllis "Kay" and (Samuel) Smith, Bettendorf; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; one niece and two nephews; as well as grand nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George, and her brother, J. Hugh Collins.
