A dramatic effort by an Idaho Falls police officer to save a woman who had fallen off a horse failed Sunday night when the woman died in a local hospital.
Mrs. Keith (Carol) Jenkins, 29, a mother of six small children, died of internal injuries at 7:30 p.m. about two hours after the tragic mishap.
She was born Carol Dean Van Leuven April 11, 1933 at Burley.
She is survived by her husband, Keith D. Jenkins, an Idaho Falls concrete contractor, and six children: Darwin Kay, Terry, Gale, Dean, Tamara and Dale Ray Hayden from a former marriage and Debbie Jenkins.
Also surviving are her mother, Mrs. Bertha Van Leuven, Heyburn; sisters: Mrs. Donna Cordon, Grandview, Wash.; Mrs. Iris Warren, Burley; Sharral Van Leuven and Jerry Van Leuven, both of Hayburn; three brothers, Boyd Van Leuven and Trent Van Leuven, both of Burley; and Bruce Van Leuven, Heyburn; and paternal grandmother, Mary Van Leuven, Burley.
Four stepchildren also survive: David Roger, Dianna Lynn, Steven and Daniel.
