Emanuel "Cay" J. Caywood, 88, of Fort Wayne, Ind. and who had numerous relatives in the Mercer County area, died March 3, 2002, at Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne.

He was born Sept. 6, 1913, in Steuben County, Ind. On April 15, 1936, he married Hilda Arnold and she survives. Also surviving are four sons, Donald D. of Auburn, Ind., James E. of Waverly, Dale A. of Wolcottville, Ind., and Michael of Huntertown, Ind.; a daughter, Diana J. Frey, Granger, Ind.; a brother, Alonzo P. of Angola, Ind.; a sister, Mary E. Outcalt, Warsaw, Ind.; 23 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Deceased are a son, Wendell, a brother, Gerald, and three sisters, Vivian Rosseau, Naomi M. Fisher and Marjorie Johnstone.

He retired as a mechanic with Kroger's in 1978 after 28 years of service. He was a member of Brookside Community Church, Masonic Lodge 731, Free and Accepted Masons, York Rite, Scottish Rite and Mispah Shrine, all of Fort Wayne.

Services are 2 p.m. Wednesday at D.O. McComb & Sons Funeral Home, Fort Wayne. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery. Calling is 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Contributions can be made to the Shrine Crippled Children's Hospital.
