Thomas Martinez, Jr., or "Junior" as he was known by many, age 52, of Pima, passed away Saturday morning at the Mount Graham Regional Medical Center with his family by his side.
Junior was born November 5, 1958, the son of Tomas and Felipa Martinez. He grew up in Pima and on September 1, 1976, Thomas met the love of his life, Debbie Marie Gonzales. They were later married on November 20, 1976. As Junior worked on the local cotton farms, Debbie remained in the home tending to their family. They were blessed with the birth of their first son, Joseph Thomas, on January 1, 1978 and soon thereafter on May 9, 1979 with their second son, Michael Ray. In the fall of 1980, a third son, Steven Richard was born on October 15th. Junior loved his sons and was nearly inseparable from them. He could often be found with them at the lake, where he taught them to water ski. Junior also enjoyed camping, fishing, boating, racing cars, riding four wheelers and playing pool with his children. Throughout his lifetime, Junior worked hard to provide for his family and gave them everything that he could.
