Mary Anna Wille was the daughter of Anton Wille and Mary Elizabeth Kessen. Mary Anna Wille married Joseph Dietrich on October 11, 1883 at St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church in Riverside, New Jersey. They had five children: Mary Elizabeth Dietrich, Leo George Dietrich, Wallace Anthony Dietrich, Joseph Dietrich, and Lawrence Bernard Dietrich. After the death of her husband Joseph in 1895, Mary took over his job as Postmaster in Riverside. Sometime between 1900 and 1910, she moved to Philadelphia with her children, her sister Margaret Wille, and her niece Magdalena Sutton.
