Charles Carpenter, of Hawarden passed away in the hospital there on Monday, January 2, 1956, after a lingering illness, at the age of nearly 68 years.
Mr. Carpenter was born February 8, 1888, in Union county, S. D., near Akron. Mr. and Mrs. Carpenter were married February 24, 1935, and lived on a farm near Akron many years. The family moved to Hawarden 12 years ago and farmed an acreage in the north part of town.
Mr. Carpenter was a veteran of World War I and a member of Hoschler Post, American Legion, of Akron.
The funeral was held at 1:00 p.m. last Thursday at the Carpenter home and at 2:00 p.m. at the First Christian Church in Akron. Interment was in Riverside cemetery.
