Mrs. Tena Butterfield Adams - SAVANNAH - Mrs. Tena Butterfield Adams, 96, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 6, 2011 at Heritage Healthcare of Savannah. She was born in Colleton County, SC and educated in the public schools. She spent most of her adult life in Savannah. She was a faithful member of Saint Luke Baptist Church, and the oldest member of its congregation and one of the oldest Deaconess Board Member in the Savannah area. She served in many auxiliaries, founding member of the # 2 Choir, member of the Mass Choir, Ogeechee Quilting Club, and Co-Chairperson of Feed-AR-Meal until her health began to decline. She was instrumental in getting the Midtown Community Center organized. Mrs. Adams was a devoted mother, friend, and grandmother. She is survived by, one daughter, Geraldine Furman, Brooklyn, NY; one son, Samuel Lowe (Jeanette), Savannah; special thanks to, Earl Mason and Thomasina Dawson, 14 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, her church family, other relatives and friends. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Thursday, August 11, 2011 at the church. Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Friday, August 12, 2011 at Saint Luke Baptist Church, 418 W. 38th Street.
