Oburn Bonds Quenichet (1921 - 2011)

Oburn Bonds Quenichet, 90, passed peacefully Sunday, Aug. 7, 2011, from this life to heaven. Celebration of life: 10 a.m. Thursday in Bluebonnet Hills Funeral Chapel. Interment: Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Park. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, contributions to the Alzheimer's Association will be welcomed.

Oburn Louise Bonds was born May 28, 1921, to Anne Wadley Bonds in Memphis, Tenn. Her father, a police officer, was killed in the line of duty when Oburn was age 4. Mother Anne, a medical technician, later married Robert L. Bowlin, M.D., who taught Oburn a love for fishing. Having attended Memphis State University, she married John Quenichet in 1939. John became a commercial pilot with Braniff Airways and Oburn remained a stay-at-home mom, loving wife and grandmother for 70 years. Oburn was always vibrant, energetic, loving and active in dancing, piano, tennis, hunting, fishing, sewing, cooking and playing bridge. Her radiant smile and sense of humor always announced her presence. She loved family and friends and was quick to support worthy (especially family-related) causes in life. She treasured Sundays with church and family dinners. She believed in living a balanced life and always loved unconditionally. Husband John and a son, Rick, preceded her in death.

Survivors: Son, Wayne Quenichet and wife, June; daughter, Leslie Quenichet; daughter-in-law, Cayla Quenichet; grandchildren, David Quenichet, Wesley Quenichet and wife, April, Rachel Hannabass and husband, Rob, and Suzanne Fuller and husband, Mel; and great-grandchildren, Johnathan, William, Matthew, Patrick, Kaylee, Haley, Drew, Michael, Jenna, Ryan, Isabell, Evan and Katie.
