Mildred Sloan Baker never knew her biological father (Unknown Baker). He is still a mystery. She became a successful Broadway actress and married John Z. Fletcher a Jacksonville business man.
Mildred and John were divorced in 1929, Orange Co. FL. Mildred and John Fletcher had two sons, Jerome S. and John N. Fletcher. There is a Fletcher Music store and a high school named after one of them. John was killed in a airplane crash.
I remember the Copeland name being associated with the Sloans. Mildred Sloan Baker Fletcher and her 2 children John N. and Jerome S. Fletcher were living with her step father and mother James N. and Jessie A.Copeland in Miami, FL. on the 1930 Florida Census. James N. Copeland was Jessie Alice Sloan's 2d husband. They both are buried in Westview Cemetery, Atlanta GA. Nobody knows what happened to Jessie A. Sloan's first husband ? Baker, father of Mildred.

Mildred was a successful Broadway actress and was living at 474 W. 238th Street, Riverdale, N.Y. when her mother died.

Mildred joined the American Women's Voluntary Services:

The American Women's Voluntary Services (AWVS) was created in January 1940 and provided material aid, assistance, and information to armed forces and civilians during World War II. Volunteers drove ambulances, operated mobile kitchens, administered first aid, watched fires, picked crops, and sold war bonds and stamps, as well as many other services. AWVS workshops turned out more than one million new or reconditioned articles of clothing for servicemen and civilians. The AWVS uniform was a blue-gray shade and would have been worn with a leather belt around the waist of the jacket.
