Richard's father, Philip Lind, came to the U. S. in 1904 by ship from Stockholm, Sweden, and arrived at Ellis Island, NY. He settled in Georgetown, TX, where an older brother lived. In 1907 Philip Lind married Esther Dahlberg, who was born in 1883 in Sweden and died in July of 1919.
The linden tree produced the names Lind, Lindh, Linden, and Lindner in Sweden (from "Surnames from Places" by Elsdon C. Smith, p. 200).

Obituary from Austin American-Statesman, Thursday, Jan. 30, 1986:
Richard C. Lind, 77 of Austin, died Tuesday. Born in Georgetown, he was a resident of Austin for 20 years, and had retired from the Texas Division of the Dow Chemical Co. in Freeport.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday in the Colonial Chapel of the Cook Walden Funeral Home, with Reverend Joe K. Ader, Memorial United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will be in Capital Memorial Gardens [sic: this in incorrect].
Mr. Lind was the husband of Lena Lind of Austin; brother of Mrs. V. H. (Edna) Epperson of Mishawaka, Indiana, Lawrence Lind Dahlberg of Austin; and uncle of several nieces and nephews.
