Mr. Cassel was born in Bristol, Pa., and was raised in Edgewater Park, N.J.
He spent many years in different group homes through Catholic Charities in Willingboro and Eastampton before moving to Mount Holly about a year ago. He enjoyed reading, especially the Bible.
He was employed by the Occupational Training Center in Mount Holly in various capacities. Spending time with his family was most important to him.
He was preceded in death by his father, Richard Cassel.
Mr. Cassel is survived by his mother, Elizabeth Argust of Bridgewater; his sisters, Susan Mariano and her husband, Thomas, of Hillsborough, and Christine Brewer and her husband, Jerry, of Fort Mill, S.C.; and his brother, Michael Cassel and his wife, Terry, of Pemberton. He also is survived by many nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. Monday at the United Methodist Church at New Brunswick, 323 George St. New Brunswick, where the family will receive guests beginning at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at New Cemetery in Somerville.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Mr. Cassel's name may be made to Delaware House Residential Program c/o Catholic Charities, 114 Riverbank St., Burlington, NJ 08016.
