Mary B. Schuiltz

Mary Ball Schuiltz, of Pittsburg, KS, passed away at 10:20 a.m., Wednesday, August 3, 2011, at Girard Medical Center, Girard, KS.
She was born September 29, 1920, to William and Laura Faye (Best) Ball at their home north of Columbus, KS.
She graduated from McCune High School in 1937.
She then went on to graduate from Pittsburg State University with a B.S. and M.S. degree in English.
In 1943, she graduated from the Naval Reserve Midshipman School, Smith College, Northampton, MA, as a WAVE officer. She remained on active duty until March 1946.
On August 20, 1947 she married George Schuiltz in Chicago, IL. He preceded her in death on May 12, 1999.
Her profession was a high school English teacher and her last work was Bremen High School, Midlothian, IL.
Membership was formerly held in Countryside Women's Golf Assn., American Association of University Women, Book Lovers Club, Progressive Study Club, Crawford County Republican Women and the Republican Central Committee.
Survivors include two sisters: Margarette Beasley-Clugston and husband, Warren of Pittsburg, KS, and Shirley Anderson and husband, Roy of Georgetown, TX; a nephew Douglas Watkins of Lake Jackson, TX; two nieces, Pamela Pearson of Austin, TX, and Eleene Carr of Georgetown, TX.
In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by her parents.
Graveside services will be at 2:00 p.m., Friday, August 5, 2011, at the Columbus City Cemetery with Father William Wolff officiating.
Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery.
Friends may sign the register book from 10:00 a.m.-12:30 p.m., Friday, at the Brenner Mortuary.
The family suggests memorials to St. Peter's Episcopal Church. These may be left at or mailed to Brenner Mortuary, 114 East 4th Street, Pittsburg, KS 66762.
