Mary Elisa was baptised on June 26, 1836 at St John's Church ("The Church of the Generals") along with her 3 siblings. Sponsors were Henry and Alexandrine Stanton, Miss Macomb and Miss Casey.

She married William Henry Alexander Macomb,the brother of her step-mother Alexandrine, on Jan. 17, 1844 at St. John's Church, Ft. Hamilton. He entered the U.S.N. in 1833, dropped the Alexander from his name,afterwards to be known as William Henry. He attained the rank of Commodore.

They had three children, all born at Ft. Hamilton:
Henry Alexander, b. April 5, 1845, Mary, b. Dec.14, 1855 and William Stanton, b. April 19,1859. Neither Mary nor William married.

Henry Alexander married Ada Phillips Bailey in 1870 in Kent Cliffs, NY. He authored the "Macomb Family Record", pub.1917.
