Funeral Services for Otis R. Maynard, 95 were held Monday morning, July 03, 1972, at the Schroeder Funeral Home, Rev. Burdette officiating. Burial was in Riverside Cemetery, Freedom Lodge No. 434 A.F. & A.M. conducting Masonic graveside rites. Pallbearers were: Floyd Miller, Leslie Henke, Elmer Dimmick, Harvey Dewey, Robert Root, and Floyd Fletcher.
Mr. Maynard died July 01, 1972, in the Akron Hospital, after a bried illness.
Otis Maynard was born October 13, 1876, in Union County, South Dakota to Solomon VanBuren (1836-1931)and Mary Arvilla (Crane) Maynard (1840-1877). He married Charlotte Sayles, April 24, 1901, in Westfield, Iowa. He farmed near Westfield and in 1908 moved to Union County, S.D. In 1969 he entered the Akron Nursing Home. He was a director of the Farmer's Grain Company and for many years served on the Sayles School Board in Union County, South Dakota. Mrs. Maynard died in 1955.
Survivors are a son, Porter Maynard, of (West) Akron, (Union County, South Dakota); two daughters, Mrs. C.A. (Anita) Brady, of Pomona, California; and, Mrs. Price (Viola) Miller, of Albuquerque, New Mexico; six grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.
