She was adopted at birth by loving parents Dwight and Hazel(Carpenter) Crumbaker. Though an only child, Barbara was a member of a large and caring family with wonderful grandparents and many aunts and uncles and lots of cousins spread throughout the Northwest. It was not allowed in those days for the birth mother (Only 15 at the time) to have any contact with the adoptive parents. In spite of this her birth mother asked the nurse to pass along a message to her "new parents". She asked that if they hadn't picked out a name could they please name her Barbara....Of course they did. She met her birth mother and grandmother in the 60's and they had a relationship until her death. Sadly, Barbara passed away on Christmas Day 1982 in Klamath Falls, Oregon. She was going to spend the day with her former husband and their son and his family. She was only 53. A loving wife and mother.
