Born April 1, 1919 at Oklahoma to the late Elmer Lee and Ruby May Dobbins Artherholt, he died Feb. 7, 2006 at Virginia Beach.

He married Rudell Ethel Potts. She preceded him in death Sept. 20, 2003.

Mr. Artherholt spent his younger years at Cox City, then graduated from Dundee High School in 1938. He had met the love of his life in high school and on Feb. 15, 1938. They were united in marriage at Lone Grove. The same year they moved to Illinois where he was a partner in a dry cleaning business for three years. He then became employed by Pure Oil Company, remaining in Illinois until they were transferred to Texas in 1946.

They settled in Dollar Hide, Texas and also lived in several other Texas and New Mexico towns prior to retirement in 1979 after 32 years of service. In 1989 they returned to Lone Grove. Mr. Artherholt had served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a Gideon and a member of the Baptist Church.
