He was born February 5, 1935 at Ithaca to Ben and Emma (Bonow) Bergman, Sr. Ben graduated from Mead High School in 1952. He married Jacqueline McGrew on November 20, 1954 at Zion Lutheran Church. Ben was a lifetime member of Zion Lutheran Church and a lifelong farmer. He served as a cook in the National Guard. Most of his activities revolved around farming. He was an active member of the Saunders County Livestock Feeders Association for many years and also belonged to the Soy Bean Association. Ben served as a 4-H Leader and had been the 4-H Beef Superintendent for the Saunders County Fair. He had also been a member of the Saddle Club and the Saunders County Fair Board and was an avid toy tractor collector. Ben was active in the Ithaca Volunteer Fire Department and served on the board for the Ithaca Rural Fire District. He also served on the Zion Lutheran Cemetery Board.
He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his wife Jackie of Ithaca; sons and daughters-in-law Roger and Teresa Bergman of Lincoln, Douglas Bergman of Arapahoe, Jeffrey and Trish Bergman of Ithaca; grandchildren Jordan Bergman, Chad (Kellen) Bergman, Kristen (Adam) Kloepping, Whitney Bergman, Dustin (Ashley) Bergman, Chelsea Bergman; great-grandchildren Emma and Kaden Kloepping; brother and sister-in-law Fred and Marilynne Bergman of Lincoln, sisters and brothers-in-law Carol and Bob Simmons of El Cajon, CA, Elaine and Bob Pearson of Mead; aunts Margaret Bergman and Betty Jordan, both of Wahoo; numerous nieces and nephews.
Casket bearers will be Robert Flynn, Michael Gray, David Gray, Randy Bergman, Curtis Pearson, Robert Bonow, Jr. and David Swanson. Honorary casket bearers will be Chad Bergman, Kristen Kloepping, Whitney Bergman, Dustin Bergman, Chelsea Bergman and Jordan Bergman.
