Orvis Daniel Hymer, 90, Winston Road, Irvine, died Monday, Dec. 31, 2007 at his home following a short illness. He was born July 21, 1917 in Hamilton, Ohio, the son of the late Orvis and Nora Begley Hymer. He was a retired farmer and a United States Army veteran of World War II. He was a Kentucky Colonel.

Survivors include his wife, Sarah Katherine Dawes Hymer; two brothers, Orvis Hymer Jr. of Michigan and Charles Edward Hymer of Estill County.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Mary Richardson; and two brothers, Maylone Hymer and Mendel Hymer.

Funeral services were conducted Thursday, Jan. 3 at 1 p.m. at the Warren F. Toler Funeral Home Chapel by Bro. Sidney Sparks with burial at the Boian Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Walsa Blanton, Clyde Begley, Mitchell Sparks, Harold Oliver, Ralph Cruse and Daniel Sparks.
