She graduated from Girl's Catholic High School, Hays, in 1936. A Hays resident, she was employed for many years at Kennedy-St. Joseph School Lunch Program. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Altar Society Christian Mothers, Ministry of Praise, St. John's Auxiliary and Thomas Prep Marian Alumni.
On June 7, 1937 she married Alfred A. Doerfler at Catherine. He died May 27, 1996.
Survivors include two sons, Richard of Overland Park, and Charles of Hays; a daughter, Carolyn Jacobs of Hays; two brothers, Alfred Staab of Catherine, and Charles Staab Jr. of Hays; six sisters, Frieda Dinges of Brighton, Colo., Tillie Leiker and Mary Louise Staab, both of Catherine, Josepha Dreiling of Littleton, Colo., Rose Doerfler of Morris, Ill., and Geraldine Dreiling of Denver; six grandchildren; nine step grandchildren; two great-grandchildren. nine step great-grandchildren; two step great-great-grandchildren.
St. John's Auxiliary rosary will be at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, Altar Society Christian Mothers rosary at 4 p.m. Tuesday and parish vigil services at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, all at Hays Memorial Chapel. Funeral service 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Hays, with Fathers Earl Befort and Curtis Carlson presiding. Friends may call from 2 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and 9 to 9:45 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the St. Joseph Cemetery, Hays.
