COURIER JOURNAL OBITUARY – 04/29/2003 – CORYDON.
Anna L. Mattingly, 85, died Sunday afternoon [April 27, 2003] at her home. She was the former owner and operator of the old Rex Lunch Restaurant in Corydon and was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Corydon. Survivors include her sons, Dr. John Mattingly of Corydon, Larry Mattingly of Laconia, IN, and Joseph Mattingly of Corydon; daughters, Lura Mattingly and Myrna Fravel, both of Corydon; brothers, Clarence Hunter and Thomas Hunter, both of Corydon; sisters, Dorothy Ernst of Corydon and Josephine Lasley of Bedford, IN; nine grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren. Her funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Corydon, with burial in St. Joseph Cemetery in Corydon. Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. Wednesday and after 8 a.m. Thursday at Gehlbach & Royse Funeral Home in Corydon. A Rosary service will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home in Corydon. The family suggests that memorial gifts be made to her church or to Hospice & Palliative Care of Southern Indiana.

Anna L. Mattingly, 85, Corydon, died Sunday, April 27, [2003] at her home. A native of Corydon, born August 22, 1917, she was the daughter of the late Albert & Ruby Kiger Hunter. She was a former owner and operator of the old Rex Lunch Restaurant in Corydon, and a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Corydon. Survivors include three sons, Joseph & Dr. John Mattingly, both of Corydon, and Larry Mattingly of Laconia; two daughters, Lura Mattingly and Myrna Fravel, both of Corydon; two brothers, Clarence & Thomas Hunter, both of Corydon; two sisters, Dorothy Ernst of Corydon and Josephine Lasley of Bedford; nine grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be today (Wednesday) from 6-9 p.m. with a Rosary at 6 p.m. and tomorrow after 8 a.m. at Gehlbach-Royse Funeral Home in Corydon. The funeral will be tomorrow at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church with burial in the church cemetery. Father Louis Manna will officiate. Pallbearers will be Christ Mattingly, John Patrick Mattingly, Trevor Mattingly, Joseph Mattingly, Ronnie Lee Fravel and Mike Haag. Jerry Mattingly and Dr. Robert Mattingly will be honorary pallbearers. The family suggests memorial gifts to her church or to Hospice & Palliative Care of Southern Indiana.
