Orville Reed Beatty
Former Fulton County farmer, insurance agent
Orville Reed Beatty, 98, of Needmore R.D. 1, died at 12:40 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 25, 1994, at the home of his son, John Beatty, in Needmore.
Born March 15, 1895, in Lashley, he was a son of the late William E. and Anna (Hoopengardner) Beatty. He was married to the former Virgie Gress, who died in 1980.
Surviving are four children: Mabelle Evans and Edward Beatty, both of Harrisburg; M. Jane Conte of New Cumberland; and John Beatty, Needmore; 12 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
One daughter and one son preceded him in death.
He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Mr. Beatty was of the Baptist faith.
He was a member of Needmore Grange No. 1890; James Bowers Lodge 173, Free and Accepted Masons, Hancock, Md.; and the Harrisburg Consistory.
During his life, Mr. Beatty had engaged in farming and also had been a Nationwide Insurance agent for a number of years.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 28, at the Howard L. Sipes Funeral Home Inc., Harrisonville, with the Rev. Dan Porterfield officiating. Interment will be in the Sideling Hill Baptist Cemetery, Needmore.
Friends may call at the funeral home Thursday, from 2-9 p.m., and Friday, from 9 a.m. until the hour of the service.
