Evalyn was the third and last child born to Myron Samuel Kimmy and Mary Electa Allen. When she was three years old her parents moved to area of Chesterwold, Alberta to farm. Her father was never very strong, and in about 1910 they moved Washington and later to Portland, Oregon where Myron worked For the Wheeler Osgood door factory. He died in 1923 of valvular heart disease.

Evalyn married Vern Adams in 1916. They lived in Washington. To this union two children were born, Ralph and Eugene. Eugene had a convulsive disorder and a bad heart. He was a delightful man, but lived with his parents until his death at an early age. Ralph moved to California where he became a pastor. He married a woman named Joan. They have at least one daughter. We are unable to trace him.

Vern Adams suffered from bronchial asthma and was unable to provide very well for the family. He died long before Evalyn. She lived alone until failing health necessitated a nursing home in 1975. Son Ralph arranged for nursing home care for her in Los Angeles where she died in 1977 from arteriosclerotic cardiovascular disease.

Evalyn is described by her cousin, Clara Allen Sunich Speerstra, as being a wonderful person. She was extremely hospitable, a hard worker, and a devout Christian. She hoed for truck farmers and had a huge garden of her own. She was a good seamstress and a fine cook. Photographs show a warm and cheerful family.
