William J Abbitt 78, pioneer city resident, of route 11, died of a kidney ailment Wednesday, Feburary 09, 1955 in St Anthony hospital Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Services will be announced later by the Capitol Hill Funeral Home.

Born in Alabama, to Abner Absolem Abbitt & Margaret E Atkerson September 09, 1877. Abbitt came to Oklahoma in the early days and had been a city resident 47 years. He was a member of the Babtist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Sarah Katherine of the home; four daughters, Elsie Byus, Myrtle Jolly, both of Oklahoma City area; Myrtle Ritchey of Pitcher, Oklahoma; and May Gable of Colton, California; and four sons, Ray of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, James of Everett, Washington; Velmer of Glendale, Arizona; and Carl of Trenton, South Carolina.

There are also two sisters, Barbara Rushey of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and Susie Smith of Enid, Oklahoma; two brothers, John and James both of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; 20 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
