Mrs. Gladys Beers, former owner of the Gladys Fashion Shoppe in Belvidere, died last night at the Allentown General Hospital. She had been ill for about a month. Mrs. Beers, widow of Lester Beers, lived on Front St., Belvidere. She opened the woman's specialty shop at 299 Mill St. in 1927 and sold it 24 years later. She had worked at the store in various capacities until her illness. Active in community affairs, Mrs. Beers was a Grey Lady at Warren Hospital, a member of the Belvidere High School Alumni Association, the Pythian Sisters, the Belvidere Rebekah Lodge, the auxiliary to Warren Hospital and the auxiliary to the Belvidere Fire Co. She belonged to the United Presbyterian Church in Belvidere.
