Robert Douglas Cumbest 73 of Hurley, MS, passed away July 4, 2011 in Mobile Al. Mr. Cumbest was born March 26,1938 in Jackson County. He loved to share stories about his life with his family and friends. He enjoyed tinkering with his 65 Ford Truck, and hanging out with his dog Fat Albert. He was preceded in death by his parents Ray and Anna Bell Cumbest, his brother Ronnie Cumbest, and his sister Nelly Ray Cumbest. He is survived by his daughters Melissa (Drew) Bixby of Austin, TX and Kelli Hanshaw of Latimer, MS. his brothers and sisters Delores Jones, Charles Cumbest, Jack Cumbest, all of Hurley and Pat (Lonnie) Gasaway of Wade,also his grandchildren Kendall, Michael, Stephen, Daniel. Other relatives and friends. Visitation will be Thursday July 7, 2011 from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm at Heritage Funeral Home in Escatawpa, MS. A Celebration of Life service in his honor will begin at 7:30pm. In lieu of flowers the family request donations to be made to the Jackson County Humane Society or the Jackson County Animal Shelter.
