Phyllis Armstrong, 79, of Andrews passed away early Thursday, July 21, 2011, at a care facility in Decatur, Texas.

Mrs. Armstrong was born March 6, 1932 in Eustis, Nebraska to Florence and Albert Poor. She moved to Andrews with her family in 1942 from Seminole, Texas.

She married John Armstrong February 7, 1949 in Andrews, Texas.

She adored her family and loved her friends with all of her heart. She enjoyed baking pies and cooking for her family. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church where she loved helping with the kids in Awanas. She loved being a member of the "Pink Ladies" Hospital Auxiliary and she was loved by all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her husband John Armstrong; son, Michael Armstrong; Parents and Stepdad, Frank Caldwell; three brothers, Lee Poor, Harold Poor and Don Poor; and sister Helen Caskey.

She is survived by her son, Tommy Armstrong and his wife Sandra of Andrews; daughter Dusty Thornburg and her husband Ray of Andrews; seven grandchildren, Steve and Michelle Smith, Anthony and Melissa Rowland, Toby and Melinda Golson, Ray Thornburg, Jr., Scooter and Jennifer Orson, John and Jamie Armstrong and Aaron and Leslie Armstrong; and fifteen Great-Grandchildren, Michael Smith and his wife Janel, Logan Rowland, Emileigh Smith, Kourtney Thornburg, Shelby Smith, Caleb Smith, Suzie Orson, Jonah Rowland, Jacob Thornburg, Aimee Smith, Cole Golson, Seth Golson, Addison Armstrong , Jacoby Armstrong and Josiah Armstrong.
