Frances N. (Manning) Adams, 86, of McAlester, died Wednesday, July 20, 2011, at a local nursing home. Born to Frank and Myrtle (Phipps) Manning March 23, 1925 in Rock Pen Flat, Oklahoma. She grew up in the Crowder and Quinton area. Frances married Woodson Adams December 5, 1941 in McAlester, Oklahoma. Frances worked for Elsings and Seamprufe. She was proud to be a foster parent; caring for hundreds of children, into her eighties. Frances was a member of Faith Tabernacle Church. She is survived by her son, Jimmy Adams of McAlester, Oklahoma; daughters, Pat Stephens and husband, John of Texarkana, Arkansas, June Vannoy and husband, Tom of Broken, Arrow, Oklahoma, Phyllis Johnson and husband, Hugh of Granbury, Texas; grandchildren, Brad Adams and wife, Irene, Bryan Adams, Misty Buckner, Bobby Stephens and wife, Diane, Joseph Stephens and wife, Leslie, Tommy Vannoy and wife, Liliane, Jamie Vannoy, Robyn Shelton and husband, Kevin, Jeff Johnson and wife, Shannon; thirteen great grandchildren; sisters, Nellie Vonn Etta Frye and husband, Donald of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Lois Sloan and husband, Lynell of Sulphur, Oklahoma, Oleta Harrison of McAlester, Oklahoma, Mary Manos and husband, Bob of McAlester, Oklahoma; numerous nieces, nephews and other family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Myrtle Manning; husband, Woodson Adams in 1996; sisters, Gladys Pryor, Aleene King; brothers, Joe Manning, Benny Manning, Charles Manning and Jerry Manning. Active Pallbearers are Jamie Vannoy, Tommy Vannoy, Jeff Johnson, Kevin Shelton, Brad Adams and Bryan Adams. Honorary Pallbearers are John Stephens, Tom Vonnoy, Hugh Johnson, Jim Vonnoy and Jimmy Adams. Memorials may be made to the Faith Tabernacle Church 1 West Kiowa, McAlester, OK 74501. Services will be held at 2 PM Monday, July 25, 2011 at Faith Tabernacle Church in Kiowa with Rev. Gerald Kerns officiating. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery in McAlester. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Bishop Funeral Service of McAlester.
