Mr. Bruce was born in Rappahannock County the son of the late Silas G. Bruce and Annie Taylor Bruce. His wife, Elton "Brucie" Fox Bruce, predeceased him.
He was a lifelong farmer and a member for 50 years of the Masonic Lodge #78 of Washington and the Hiram Royal Arch Chapter 45. He was also a member of Trinity Episcopal Church.
Surviving are three brothers, Robert Bruce and Bennie Bruce of Front Royal, and William Bruce of Overhill, NC; three sisters, Mrs. Annie B. Griffith of Bailey's Crossroads, Mrs. Virginia B. Trotter of North Hollywood, CA, and Mrs. Nina B. Brown of Sperryville.
