Mary Emma Allen, daughter of Anton William and Mollie Malissa Lantz, was born at Amber, Oklahoma, on March 29, 1922, and passed from this life at her home in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, on November 18, 2003, at the age of 81 years, 7 months, and 20 days.
She and her husband, Lon, whom she married on January 11, 1939, in Chickasha, Oklahoma, were residents of Grady County in those early years living just south of Pocassett, Oklahoma, where they farmed and began their family. Around 1946, they sold the farm and moved west seeking a better life and future. Over the next 4 years, they lived in Phoenix and Flagstaff, Arizona, where Lon worked for a sawmill and lumber company, depending on the time of the year, also lived in the Fresno, California area for a short period of time working in the cotton fields.
Emma, as most of her family know her, was right beside her husband. Day in and day out, helping provide for the needs of her family. She held numerous jobs in her lifetime and retired from Oklahoma Natural Gas Company after several years of service. She was a member of Bethesda Assembly of God in southwest Oklahoma City since January, 1950.
Emma was preceded in death by her husband, Lon, on July 23,1993, one son, Reford Lynn, her parents, Anton and Mollie, 3 brothers, Karl, George, and William, 3 sisters, Ida, Kathryn, and Veva.
She is survived by her four sons and daughters in law, Rev. Ronald G. (Ron) and Christene, Taloga, Oklahoma, Steven A. (Tony) and Sue, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Larry D. and Angie, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Duane C. and Glenda, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Also, one brother and sister in law, Arnold and June Lantz of Amber, Oklahoma, 9 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, plus a host of extended family and friends who loved her dearly.
Her impact on many lives will not be forgotten. Her philosophy: work like it is all up to you, but pray like it is all up to God.
Services will be held 2:00 p.m., Friday at Bethesda Assembly of God with committal service at 4:00 p.m. at Amber Cemetery in Amber, OK.
