U.S. Congressman. Moving to Arizona, in 1917, he graduated from University of Arizona, in 1928 and taught school at Marana, Arizona, (1928-30). He graduated from the law school of the University of Arizona, in 1933, was admitted to the bar and commenced to practice law in Phoenix. He was assistant city attorney of Phoenix, in 1935, assistant attorney general of Arizona in 1936 and attorney of Maricopa County, (1938-42). In 1943, he was elected as a Democrat to the Seventy-eighth, Seventy-ninth, and Eightieth Congresses, serving until 1949. Not seeking re-nomination, he resumed the practice of law until his death at age 65.
