MRS. WM. CAHILL.
Mrs. Wm. Cahill passed away suddenly Thursday morning at the family home in this place. She was not seriously ill and on the day preceding her death was about the home until the evening hours. She retired about five o'clock and breathed her last about one o'clock the following morning.
The announcement of her death came as a shock to her friends and the community all of whom learned of the sad event with sorrow and regret.
Mrs. Cahill's maiden name was Bridget McCarthy. She was born in Indiana on January 27th, 1857 and was 64 years, 3 months and 8 days of age. When a young girl she came to Minnesota. Forty-six years ago she was married to Mr. Cahill at Mankato. They settled immediately on a farm about two and a half miles east of Janesville where they resided until a few years ago when they came to this place to reside.
As one of the early pioneers Mr. Cahill bore her part in the strenuous times that followed the settlement of the country and she did it with that courage and fortitude that marks the true and noble woman. She possessed many virtues and admirable qualities that her friends and acquaintances admired and that made her the object of their regard, their love and their veneration. She was an earnest Christian woman, a devoted member of the Catholic church, a woman who plighted her faith in the tenets of her church and who ever exemplified this faith in a Godly life and in her daily walk and conversation.
Mrs. Cahill is survived by her husband and ten children, Thos. J., of San Francisco, Cal., Mrs. J. H. Jackson, of Redwood Falls, J. J., and F. E. and P. J., Mrs. C. Jewison, Mrs. Geo. Cunningham, of Janesville, Miss Agnes, of Minneapolis, Mrs. Roy Lynch and Mrs. Peter Barden, of Waseca.
The funeral was held at St. Ann's Catholic church Monday morning, Rev. Father S. Condron, officiating, and the remains laid to rest in the Catholic cemetery.
We join the community in extending to the bereaved husband and children our sincere sympathy.
