Florence Libby Hardy was born at Hopkinton, Iowa on Dec. 3, 1861 and died at the State Hospital at Cherokee on Feb. 23, 1944 (aged 82 years, 2 months and 20 days.) Jan. 1, 1882 the Libby Family moved to Cherokee County, Iowa. Florence married Sylvester Hardy on Nov. 23, 1898. Two children were born of that union: Morris Vere who died at 25 years of age (1900 - 1925) and Roscoe A. who died at 2 1/2 years of age (1902 - 1905.)

In 1920 Florence and Sylvester sold their farm at Cushing and moved to Missouri, but in 1931 they had to take the farm back so came back to Cushing where Mr. Hardy died of cancer on September 27, 1931. This was during depression time so the mortgage company foreclosed and Florence came to Arnolds Park to live with her brother and two sisters until Feb. 3, 1944. She joined the church as a young girl and has lived in the faith all of her life. She was buried with her family in Grand Meadow Cemetery in Cherokee County on Feb. 26 at 1:30.
