Edith graduated from Peck High School in 1933. She moved to Lewiston with her parents and worked at the Owl Drug on Fifth and Main streets, and at First Security Bank on Main Street. During this time she cared for her parents until their death.
Edith said her life began when she took her '59 green Ford into the Ford garage for service and met a gentleman named Roy Johnson. They were married April 5, 1968. Roy's four children and their families became her children. Especially Guy, who always held a special place in her heart.
Famous in the family for her cookies, it was a treat to get an ice cream bucket filled with different types of cookies delivered to the door.
She and Roy enjoyed camping, going on drives and family picnics. Often during camping it was not unusual to see Edith holding onto Roy while riding a Honda Trail 90 or their four-wheeler. She loved going to the Lewiston Gun Club to cheer Roy and the boys on.
Having a huge extended family, Edith was the respected aunt and confident of many nieces and nephews; she enjoyed listening to all the escapades they had.
Edith was preceded in death by her husband Roy; brothers, Claude Lacey, Ernest Lacey, Edgar Lacey, Walter Lacey and Ralph Lacey Sr.; and sisters, Nettie Stearnes and Baby Florence Lacey.
Survivors are Carol and John Wickham of Covington, Wash., Peg and Sam Oliver, and Jon and Karen Johnson, all of Lewiston, and Guy and Elicia Johnson of Boise; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, plus one great-great-grandson; as well as her beloved nieces and nephews.
The family expresses extreme gratitude to Guardian Angel Homes and the staff of the Craftsman for the excellent care "Miss Edith" received while there.
A graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Normal Hill Cemetery in Lewiston.
