MUNCIE--Viola "Louise" (Curtis) Brewer, 79, passed away Saturday afternoon, July 16, 2011, at her residence following a sudden illness.
She was born on January 27, 1932, in Muncie and was placed in the Muncie Children's Home at an early age.
Louise was a 1950 graduate of Muncie Central High School. She married the love of her life, Donald E. Brewer, on May 17, 1953 and he preceded her in death on April 13, 2000.
Mrs. Brewer had worked for Ball State University in the Admissions Office as the office manager, and retired in 1992 after 24 years of service. Louise was a very active member of the Industry United Methodist Church, where she had taught Sunday school, worked with the youth dept., and was involved with the United Methodist Women. Mrs. Brewer was an avid sports fan especially following the Indianapolis Colts and the Los Angeles Dodgers. She also liked to watch the weather channel.
Surviving are one daughter, Judy Brewer; one son, David Brewer (wife-Kathy); one "like daughter", Kim Burns (husband-Terry); two granddaughters that she reared; one brother, Charles Minnick (wife-Sue); several nieces and nephews; and her beloved beagle, Shiloh.
Besides her husband of 47 years, Donald, she is preceded in death by one sister.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday 10 a.m. at the Parson Mortuary with Pastor Donna Ward officiating. Burial will follow in the Jones Cemetery. Friends may call at the Parson Mortuary on Wednesday from 4-8 p.m. and again on Thursday morning from 9 a.m. until service time.
