Married 8 Jan 1888 to W E Cahill...Daughter of James Sharon...Aged 42y 11m 8d = birth 26 Aug 1867..."lamp on the [sewing] machine tipped off onto the floor and exploded. The flames set fire to the sewing material on the floor and Mrs. Cahill's skirts, and almost immediately the entire interior of the room became a mass of flames. Mrs. Cahill ran out of the room and around the house, her clothing all aflame. Miss [Marie] Aarnes finally overtook her and envoloped her in a rug, but by that time all of Mrs. Cahills' clothing, with the exeption of the shoes were burned off and Mrs. Cahill was frightfully burned from head to shoe tops. After being so frightfully burned Mrs. Cahill went to the barn several hundred yards away and turned out her horses. She then walked about a half mile down the road toward the city, where she was met some hours afterward by an automobile...more details in obit...Columbia Chronicle, Dayton WA, 6 Aug 1910, Page 2 Column 12.
