The members of the Rock City Guards; (Veterans) are requested to meet at the Maxwell House this morning at 9 o'clock, to attend the funeral of James Gunn.
DIED
Gunn--At his residence in Goodlettsville, Tenn., on Wednesday, the 11th inst., James T. Gunn, in the 40th year of his age. Friends and acquaintances are respectfully invited to attend his burial at Spring Hill Cemetery on Gallatin pike, on Friday morning, Aug 13 at 10 o'clock.

The Gunn Family Bible revealed that he died of consumption.

James Tucker Gunn served in the Confederate States of America. He began as a Private, May 25, 1861, under Capt. Robert C. Foster's Company, 1 Regiment Tennessee Infantry. In 1862/63 he was a Sergeant on Special Duty at General Polk's Headquarters.

As evidence that he was a member of the Knights of Honor his headstone has the emblem O M A and the notation K. of H.
