Elizabeth "Libby" Weddle Bedford

Elizabeth "Libby" Weddle Bedford, died November 12, 2010, in Kingwood, Texas, at the age of 89.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, John Lyle Bedford. She is survived by her three children: John Lyle Bedford and his wife Sharon of Corpus Christi, Texas, Emily Elizabeth Bedford Schepens and her husband James of Kingwood, Texas, and Paula Ruth Bedford also of Kingwood, Texas.
Libby was born in Fourmiles, Kentucky on August 1, 1921, to Dr. Herbert Weddle and Verda Strunk Weddle. After the death of her father, Libby was raised by her aunt, Pauline Weddle Rothert and William C. Rothert. Libby thought of their son, Bill as a younger brother. Bill and his wife Cecilia live in Russelville, Arkansas. Libby is also survived by her sister, Dillie Weddle Sanders of the Detroit area and her sister-in-law, Mary Ruth Hemphill of West Point, Mississippi. She is preceded in death by her sister, Ruth Patterson from California.
She was a proud grandmother of six grandchildren: Tina Bedford, Carisa Walker and her husband Clay, Greg Schepens, Phillip Schepens, Bob Carothers and his wife Dana, Chuck Carothers and his wife Kristina; and her five great-grandchildren: Abby, Myles and Macy Walker and Brady and Hailey Schepens.
Libby was known as the "Picture Lady" as she held the title of Society Editor for the Daily Times Leader in the 50's and 60's. She covered everything from family celebrations and parties to anniversaries and community events. One of her most loved times in her life was as a Girl Scout Troop Leader.
She spent her later years retired and gathering information and pictures for the Clay County History Book. She will be laid to rest in her beloved home of West Point, Mississippi. Memorial services will be held at the Robinson Funeral Home at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, November 23, 2010.
Visitation will begin at 10 a.m.
Donations can be made in Libby's honor to any animal shelter or to the American Cancer Society.
Robinson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
