From the Advance Reporter March 11/ 1911 Monroe Bottoms which says he lived at Cardiff and Died Last Thursday of Pneumonia, Burried at Mt. Plesent Graveyard on Friday Two Days later, Saturday night his Wife Emma also Died of Pneumonia, Burried at his side on Sunday. Left 8 Children ( not named in orbit ) Some of them Young.

The birthdate on Emma's monument is incorrect: she was married to Fletcher by 1877 since their daughter Susie was born at the beginning of 1878. This could not have happened when she was ten years old. Census records place her actual birthdate in 1855. She was daughter of John Fielding Meyers Self and Susan Satterfield who both died in GA. Emma and her brothers, Virgil Satterfield Self and John Self, moved to Scott County in 1870 with their father's uncle, Joseph L. Self who settled at Greenridge.
