US Navy Seaman. Robert Clark enlisted in the US Navy in 1803 in New York. He served in the Mediterranean in 1803 and 1804 before volunteering to join the crew of the "Intrepid" whose mission was to destroy the pirate floatilla in Tripoli harbor. On September 4, 1804, while carrying out this mission, the "Intrepid" exploded killing Clark and 12 other men aboard.
