Spring City - Funeral arrangements were being completed Wednesday for Mrs. Jennie Watson Barney, 51, who died Monday afternoon at her home here of a stroke.
Mrs. Barney, wife of Lynn S. Barney, was born in Springville, December 30, 1891, a daughter of James R. and Lucy E. Roylance Watson. She came to Spring City with her parents when she was 3 years old and attended public schools here. She also attended Springville High School and Snow College at Ephraim. For three years she taught school in Cedar City and Fairview.
She was married to Mr. Barney in Manti, June 20, 1914. She was active in civic affairs and at the time of her death was Spring City registrar and formerly served as city recorder. She also was active in LDS Church work, having served in the North Sanpete Stake Primary Association and in the Relief Society of Spring City.
Surviving are her husband; three sons, Von Barney of Spring City, Corporal LaMar Barney of Camp Forrest, Tenn., and Private Travis Barney of Camp Swift, Texas. Four daughters; Miss Doris Barney and Mrs. Bernice Ericksen of Spring City, Mrs. Nedra Swenson and Mrs. Vola Johansen of Mt. Pleasant. Four sisters; Mrs. Hazel Covert and Mrs. Thelma Sorenson of Spring City, Mrs. Marie Hansen of Ogden and Mrs. Lois Pritchett of Pleasant Grove; two brothers, James A. Watson of Spring City and Emmett Watson of Ogden.
