Fred Alton Hardy, Sr.
Perry - Fred Alton Hardy Sr., 80, of 819 Forest Hill Road died January 3 in a local hospital. Born in Zenith, he lived in Perry the past 60 years. He was a former councilman of the City of Perry, serving for 29 years. He was a member of the Perry Kiwanis Club, was a former Worshipful Master of Houston Lodge No. 35, F & AM and was a former member of the Penn-Dixie Cement Co. semi-pro baseball team. He was a member and deacon of Perry First Baptist Church and was a member of the Barnabas Men's Bible Class. He was a retired sales representative for Macon concrete Pipe. Survivors: wife, Dorothy Hardy of Perry; sons, Alton Hardy Jr. of Macon, Sidney Hardy of Dublin, Jimmy Hardy of Thomasville and Charles Hardy of San Fransisco (sic); brothers and sisters, R.G. Hardy of Lake Sinclair, T.F. Hardy and Ruby Irby, both of Perry, and Evelyn Reid of Vienna; and six grandchildren. Services: were January 5 at 3 p.m. in First Baptist Church, Perry. Burial: Woodlawn Cemetery, Perry. Dr. Bowman and Dr. Dan Ariail officiated. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to the Rev. James Teresi Scholarship Fund, c/o Perry First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 5, Perry 31069. Watson-Hunt Funeral Home in Perry had charge of arrangements.
