Nila Massey Brazell passed from this life on Saturday, July 9, 2011. She was born Nov. 9, 1926, in Duncan, Okla., to Floyd and Lula Robbins Massey. She married Alton Brazell on Feb. 7, 1957, in Lubbock, Texas.

Nila graduated from Lubbock High School and then earned a degree in home economics from Texas Technological College. She worked for Massey Motor Company and Lubbock County Tax Office. After the birth of their son, Kirk Brazell, Nila was a homemaker for several years. She then resumed her career working at Texas Tech University in the Range and Wildlife Department and later retired from the Texas Tech University Purchasing Department. She was a member of First Christian Church of Lubbock.

Nila was preceded in death by her beloved son, Kirk Brazell; her parents, Floyd and Lula Massey; a sister, Floye B. Gosch; and a brother, Harold Massey.

She leaves to cherish her memory her husband of 54 years, Alton Brazell; a sister, Norma Collins; and many other relatives and friends.

Services will be in Hodges Chapel at First Christian Church Tuesday, July 12, 2011, at 10 a.m. Interment will be in Resthaven Cemetery under the personal care of Rix Funeral Directors. The family will receive friends at Rix Funeral Directors Monday evening, July 11, 2011, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

The family suggests memorial donations be made to First Christian Church of Lubbock or American Museum of Agriculture, 1501 Canyon Lakes Drive, Lubbock, TX 79403.
