Killed in an automobile accident

His wife was Clara Emmalynne Chisam of Pikeville, TN. She and Phil graduated from Milligan College as did their friends Thomas J Bond and Violet Dearing who were married after college. After Phil's death in 1931 and Violet's death about the same time, Tom and Clara reconnected a couple of years later when Clara was assigned as a teacher at the school where Tom Bond was principal. They were married in 1934. They had one son, Thomas Jefferson Bond, Jr., who was my husband. It was always interesting to me that the Sawyer families and the Dearing families stayed connected to their former family members after they both remarried. When I came into the family in 1959, I learned all this family history and marveled at the complexity of it all. Submitted by Sunni Bond, widow of T J Bond Jr (1936-1992)
