UPDATE: I showed he died 24 JUN 1884, but the inscription on his headstone clearly shows the date 24 JUL 1884. A notice in the weekly newspaper of Friday, 01 AUG 1884 reports that he died "last Wednesday," but this was probably repeated from an edition of the daily newspaper on an earlier day, so would be referring to Wednesday of the previous calendar week.
