Frieda K. Adkins, 93, died Sunday, Jan. 28, 1996 at 3:25 p.m. at Newton Rest Haven Nursing Home.

Services will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at the Good Shepard Lutheran Church Missouri Synod in Newton, with Rev. Daniel M. Smith officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday at Buchanan Funeral Home in Newton from 6-8 p.m. Burial will be in the Brick Cemetery in rural Newton.

Memorials can be made to the Good Shepard Lutheran Church or donor's choice.

Adkins was born March 5, 1902 in Jasper County, the daughter of Henry and Anna (Krick) Meislahn. She married Roe Adkins Oct. 12, 1935. He preceded her in death May 16, 1976.

She was a health inspector for the state of Illinois. She also owned and operated a beauty salon in Montrose. She was a member of Good Shepard Lutheran Church in Newton and a member of the Newton Women's Club, the Jasper County Farm Bureau and Jasper County Home Extension.

She is survived by a brother, Donald Meislahn, of Sigel, and a sister, Betty Miller, of Teutopolis.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two
brothers and four sisters.
